Last week I shared with you the insights of a 12 year old. She gave you examples and reasons why she believes your business should have a Facebook page. I thought I’d just add to her thoughts, and when it comes to that great question “To Social Or Not to Social?” I’ll give you a few more reasons why I believe social media in general is beneficial for your business.
In short, what other media channel out there can reach over 1 billion people, target a specific demographic, and directly communicate with them?
Social media is now the top online activity. And it has become the most influential source in helping consumers make decisions. People use social media every day to create, discover and share ideas. That could mean sharing information, products, and/or recommendations for your business.
I must stress that you need to use the platforms in the right way! The point of social media outlets are not to act as a billboard. Only marketing and talking about your business, in essence having a one-way conversation won’t work. Sure users want to hear about your products or services, but ultimately they want to be able to interact with you.
You don’t have to be a huge company to brand yourself on social media. Having a consistent look, and approach will go a long way. Social media is all about building trust and social media is a great way to do that.
