I’ve known for some time that small businesses often don’t understand the importance of having a great brand identity. After beginning a new logo design job recently, I was inspired to write a post in hopes that I can provide a little help on the subject.

So let’s jump right in and say, “It’s a hectic and crowded marketplace out there!”

Generally speaking, no matter what business you’re in (or planning to get into), someone else probably does it too. It’s important to stand out from that crowd. A strong brand identity can distinguish you from your competitors, and help guide your customer’s purchasing decision.

A really great logo can immediately communicate what your business is, what its all about, and the ideals on which it’s based.

A consistent brand image can establish your reputation and increase product recall. You could be advertising all over the place, but if your branding message is different in all those places, you’ll never be remembered.

Customers trust strong and professional looking brands. A professional brand developer and logo designer does a number of things when developing a brand identity and/or logo. They identify your target audience/ideal customer, research your competitors, brainstorm ideas that’ll differentiate your business, and all of this is before they develop logo concepts and fine tune the chosen design. They do all of this for a reason…They’re important steps.

Understanding the importance of branding can go a long way to promoting your business. Hopefully the thoughts above help you to understand that your brand identity is crucial to business success, and deserves time and consideration. It all comes down to how much you value your business. Does it deserve to stand out from the crowd or blend in with the masses?
