So you’re a business owner and you’re wondering: “Should your business have a blog?” Content marketing and blogging for business is a hot topic these days. Lately I’ve had an increasing number of clients asking my opinion on it, and asking whether it would be beneficial for them. My answer (like most marketing methods) is that it depends.
No business is going to benefit from running out and starting a blog with no direction or plan. To truly answer that question, you first need to ask yourself a few questions: Who are my ideal clients and customers? And how can I provide them with valuable information?
Once you’ve answered those questions, you’ll know if blogging is an option, and you’ll be on your way to having a blogging strategy. And blogging really can have some great benefits.
Benefits of Blogging:
One reason to blog is to show your expertise. Writing on a regular basis on topics relevant to your industry and to your customers/clients, shows your knowledge and understanding. People will realize you really are an expert at what you do.
Another reason blogging regularly can help your business is that it helps drive traffic to your website. Writing great content and using industry keywords will help your search engine rankings and help bring in a more specific audience.
One more reason blogging is useful is that it nurtures customer relationships. By interacting with and encouraging comments and discussion, you build the relationship. People do business with people they trust and have a good relationship with.
In the end, blogs are a great tool and appropriate for some businesses. You must remember that a blog is a tool. It requires commitment and time. But this day and age people turn to the internet for information, so your commitment can lead to great rewards.
