SO YOU LIKELY KNOW (IN YOUR HEAD), THAT YOUR SMALL BUSINESS SHOULD HAVE AN ONLINE AND SOCIAL MEDIA PLAN IN YOUR MARKETING MIX.

You know people are there, meaning…CUSTOMERS! But you either don’t know where to begin, or aren’t sure how you’ll manage it all. So you’re fearful that it’ll just end up being a waste of time.

Sound familiar?!

You’re not the first person that has a hard time justifying putting in the time.

But I also wonder if you’ve considered the full range of benefits that a social media strategy could have for your small business.

So I’ve decided to remind you of the many (often overlooked) reasons that social media is important for your small business. Read On…

Analytics:

Social Media can give you all sorts of great insight into your customers/fans.

The social media platforms have analytics and insights that can show not only standard demographic info like location and gender, but you can see a plethora of details about their likes, dislikes, incomes, and more.

All of the this data can help shape the way you can reach them in the future, and the best ways to do so.

SEO:

Another thing that being active on social media can help with is your SEO.

Simply on the surface social media  is a great place to share and get your website’s content out into the world. But there’s another way it can help. It allows you to have some control over what your brand looks like in search results

For example, search your business name.

You’ll (hopefully) see your website. But what else is there? If you’re active on social media, you can dominate the 1st search page.

This is what it looks like when you search my business:

Capture

The top is my website, but the other items are my other social pages and listings.

If I wasn’t active in those places and social media platforms, you’d see random things that aren’t relevant and have to do with other junk. 🙂

Email Marketing:

Social Media can also be a great asset when it comes to building an email list.

Now I know, not all of you have a list or are using email marketing. But it consistently ranks as one of the best returns on investment. And likely at some point you will.

For those that already do…it doesn’t matter whether your list is tiny or more well established, social media can be used to grow it!

You can share your list signup on social. If you use a lead magnet (free download, coupon, etc.) to capture those emails SHARE IT all over social. And you can do that in many ways, from pinning a post to the top of your profile, to actual paid ads with your lead magnet.

And keep in mind this benefits in 2 ways.

  1. You grow your list and
  2. You have social content to share

Win, Win. Because I know you stress about what to post! 🙂

I think I’ll let you digest these 3 lesser thought of reasons to use social media to market your small business.

Yes, I have more. But I’ll save them for another post.

Consider these reasons before you decide social media is too much of a timesuck. And if you need help to devise a plan, professionals (Like Me!) can help get you past any overwhelm, just REACH OUT!
