THERE ARE SO MANY REASONS PEOPLE BLOG; FUN, FAME, MONEY, ETC., AND I’M A HUGE FAN OF BLOGGING FOR SMALL BUSINESS…
I first talked about some of the benefits of blogging here awhile back.
In short blogging for your business helps your audience connect with you and trust your expertise. Blogs are also great for your web traffic and SEO reasons.
But a lot of businesses understand the benefits, and want to blog, but they still struggle and have a tough time moving forward and find themselves asking how they can blog better.
So to give you (and myself) a little motivation to get those small business blogs going. I’ve decided to share some tips to blog better in 2017. Read On…
Have A Plan:
Like most things in life and business, having a plan in place and an actual reason for doing is an important first step. If you have no goals or real reason for blogging, it’s kinda just pointless right?
So sit down and think about what your reasons are, and what you hope to achieve. Think about your audience and what they might care most about. And think about what you might write. You can get a bit of an editorial calendar set up yourself. Which will help immensely later.
Make That Plan A Separate Exercise:
I think splitting up your planning and the actual writing of your blog articles is a great idea to help avoid overwhelm. Blogging truly takes discipline and consistency. So maybe you plan ahead for the type of things you will write about, and then do the writing at a separate time. Setting yourself up for manageable tasks will make it easier to stay on track!
Set Deadlines For Yourself:
It always seems easier to get your clients/customers work done than it is to work on your own business isn’t it?
Well blogging is something you might be tempted to procrastinate or push to the back burner. Setting hard deadlines will help keep you on track. You can schedule time on your calendar to do the research, a separate time to write, and a separate deadline for editing and posting. Oh, and ya gotta stick to them!
Focus on the Finish Line:
The reward at the end is always the best part right?
Anticipating the holidays, winning a prize, losing that weight, whatever it is, sure the work can be daunting, but that end result and reward can be the motivation you need to get you through it.
Remaining focused on hitting the publish button, or getting that extra web traffic, can be a great motivators to get that work done.
In the end blogging for your small business can have great rewards, but it definitely takes some work.
